After setting up a new, global intelligence function, Electrolux decided to find a better way of obtaining and accessing a continuously updated picture of the global market situation. Group-level needed access to business sector insights, business sectors looked for a more efficient means of following industry trends, competitor moves and new opportunities within their geographical areas.

Problem

Silo-based approach to intelligence, where work was performed either at group level or within business sectors, on different platforms, without easy global access to available resources and results. No efficient means of aggregating from local to global levels.

Implementing a new global intelligence process, starting with common denominators at group level, then scaling out to include business sectors. Efficiency and manageability through a transparent and measurable, common workflow.

Outcomes and impact

Electrolux already had extensive experience in working with Intelligence. Most of the work on market intelligence had been conducted locally by various units of the company.

After setting up a new, global intelligence organization, what primarily was lacking was a common process for aggregating insights and conclusions from business sectors to a global level.

Wide Narrow helped Electrolux design a strategically aligned intelligence process, involving a global network of internal product- and topic experts, such as sustainablity and consumer research. An intelligence board at Group level was setup to aggregate business sector insights to a global picture.

After implementation and training Electrolux realized, in order:
